Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easily rock-hopped today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No real blowdowns. Couple of small step-overs.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of running water on the ascent and descent in brooks and side streams and enough standing water on the ridge so that hydration isn't an issue right now. Some dogs, especially small dogs, may have trouble on the somewhat tricky rock scrambles just below the Jackson summit on both the Webster-Jackson and Webster Cliff trails. Excellent mud in the meadow just north of Jackson peak -- Tuckerman was in up to his belly, and loving it -- and in several other places. Tuck also took a plunge in the pool at the bottom of Gibbs Falls while Polly snickered at his bad form.
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies on Crawford Path from Mizpah Cutoff down to about the 2,500-foot level. Negligible bugs everywhere else.

Comments
Comments: Full summer conditions in the air and on the ground. Really nice hike in the humidity today with my nephew Tom and the dogs. (The peaks are #'s 25 & 26 for Polly, and Pierce is #33 for Tuck.) Somewhat crowded on Pierce and the Crawford Path but nothing surprising about that on Memorial Day weekend. Ran into a semi-lost Girl Scout troop (they'd missed Mizpah Cutoff) and a couple of father-daughter combos. Always nice to see kids out on the trails. Photos at link below.
