Followed the logging road which was only slightly overgrown and easy to follow. Crossed a stream then continued a bit further to a grassy clearing where the road just disappeared. Crossed the clearing and entered the woods which were not too bad. Grade was easy to moderate to steep. Came to a thin band of spruce as the grade started to level off then back to fairly nice woods until we got close to the summit: pretty good spruce band, older trees so persistent and stiff as we passed through them. Got to what appeared to be the height of land then started losing for the jar which turned out to be in a clearing just slightly north of us. Signed in then headed down in a more northerly direction. Still hit some spruce but soon popped out onto an overgrown skid road with a discernible moose path. Literally sailed down the moose highway, which paralleled our ascent but was a bit further south, almost to within .1 - .2 miles of the road where it disappeared. Entered the woods then crossed the stream and headed directly for Millsfield Pond Road. Popped out only about 30 yards from our car. |
