Comments
Comments: After ascending the Snows Mountain Trail and reaching its southeastern end, I bushwhacked eastward across the ridge through hobblebush and the occasional fern glade until I reached the true summit of Snows Mountain. From this point I descended into the area just north of Lost Pass, where my goal was to find the old Woodbury Trail and ascend the SW spur of Sleeper Ridge. While looking for this trail, I came across the old trail that connects Lost Pass with the Woodbury Trail & Cascade Brook; I followed this in a northerly direction until it crossed a stream, but didn’t see any sign of a trail ascending towards the Sleepers. At this point I started bushwhacking uphill, and was able to find the Woodbury Trail after about a half-hour of searching. This trail has mostly easy footing, and parts of it seem to be maintained regularly, as there are many blowdowns cleared and sawed (the same is true for the connector trail). At ca. 3400ft, the trail disappeared, and I continued ascending until I reached a level glade area. Finding the trail again was difficult given the extensive blowdown areas that this ridge is so well known for, but I eventually located it, following it to a point about a half-mile from its junction with the Kate Sleeper Trail; here I left the trail again and made a side trip over to Whiteface’s West Spur, where there were mostly open woods.

For the return trip, I re-connected with the Kate Sleeper Trail and followed it over the Sleepers, descending via the South Tripyramid Slide and reaching the starting point via the Cascade Path and a few WV ski trails.
