Nice day between ones with warmth and humidity, with great views across the notch at the presidentials. Caught some light breeze from halfway up the service road. The walk up to the top of the lift just below the D peak took just over an hour and a half, for our small group of mostly folks in 60s and 70s. That has to vie for the fastest route you'll find up 2100 ft to any of the 4K peaks, and younger folks can beat that time easily. All but the very top of Washington cleared out. Saw still a few bits of snow on the bottom of the Tuckerman headwall. We snacked at D, lunched at A, retraced and took the service road back down. From the top of the lift, the descent took 1:10, somewhat faster than the ascent. |
