Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing on the Jewell Link by Marshfield station requires either wading across or being a daring soul. I am not the latter so I took my shoes off and went across. Just below the knees and I’m 5’10”. Perhaps easier spots to cross above as well. Crossing of Clay Brook on Boundary Line Trail is also a bit tricky. I managed to get across on the way out without wet feet but got my feet wet a bit on the way back. Barely rock hoppable. The crossing of Franklin Brook was rock hoppable. A little obscure there but they have blazes to guide you. It may help to look behind you if you’re descending.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Jewell Trail and Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail were both blazed in blue as they connect with the AT. The blaze on Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail was very fresh looking as was placed pretty regularly as I recall...I don’t remember so much about the Jewell Trail but neither were hard to follow. The Link trails weren’t hard to follow either although I think they were unblazed. Boundary Line Trail is blazed in somewhat faded yellow placed every so often. The trail is less travelled but not too hard to follow. Maybe a smidgen overgrown or narrow but not much and lots of nice planks although on one bridge across a stream, one of the planks has collapsed and needs replaced. Not too many blowdowns. I think most were leaners and were on Boundary Line. One very old stepover on the lower portion of Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail where there’s a step which makes it awkward if descending. One sign for Boundary Line Trail says it’s 0.7mi and one says it’s 0.9mi. According to the book is 0.8mi.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be okay for dogs other than the tricky crossing on Jewell Link.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad. I didn’t use bug spray.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A shirt and mask were left on a rock on the lower portion of Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail unfortunately.

Comments
Comments: Part 2 of a redline clean up day. I went up Jewell Trail —> out-and-back on Boundary Line Trail —> Jewell Trail —> Jewell Link —> down to hiker parking —> back up to Ammonoosuc Link —> down Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail to car

I didn’t see anyone on the actual trails but lots of people at Marshfield Station. Boundary Line Trail is a nice walk in the woods. The other trails were in fine shape. Hadn’t been on them in awhile so cool to be back :) Things were mostly dry with occasional minor mud. Some wetness too mostly due to erosion. Some more severe mud and wetness on the lower portion of Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail
