Redline hanging chad today. Trail initially moderate as it climbs to the beginning of Eastman Ledges. At first views are mainly through the trees but as you climb more steeply up the ledges, there are several unrestricted viewpoints. The trail goes back into the woods, still climbing up to a large boulder. The trail goes to the right of the border down a short rock scramble. (There is a faint path to the left of the boulder that bypasses this.) The trail descends, crosses a nice stream then continues to undulate towards the intersection with the spur trail, which turns left and heads somewhat steeply uphill to the shelter. The privy is up above the shelter on another semi-steep trail, both blazed in blue. Been up Cube several times but never went to check out the shelter so here we are to get it for the redline credit! Back down the way we came. Nice hike! |
