Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We got in about 0700 at Lincoln Woods, was parking at that time. However on our way out, parking was WELL passed Hancock campground. Talked to USFS Staff there, they are leaving love notes on your car if you dont pay. She remarked this past weekend was far busier than the Fourth of July
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues on any crossings. We did however bring our swimmies and waded in Lincoln Brook for quite a while in a nice plunge pool just after the Cascades)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: (Trail maintainer). Two monster blow downs noted and a report sent into USFS. The 2nd one that's leaning over the trail is a widowmaker for sure. No way I can take it out solo. A few other minor ones that will come out later. Trail is wet in its usual spots but the drainages are working. Made some GPS notes for later this summer for corduroy work on some of the nagging mud sections and brush ins to try and funnel everyone into one area instead of about five. Also will be taking out the rouge tree snips that someone has done at eye level to mark the Black Pond BW.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Plenty of dogs out, very hot and humid though
Bugs
Bugs: We hike fast, the bugs leave you alone.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Several people have brought to my attention the brick guy left one the summit - he posted sometime around 11-1 yesterday, I was on the summit at about 1000-1040 and it was not there upon arrival nor did I see anyone matching the photo he took with it. Logistically, he couldn't have placed it after me as there is no service and I didn't see him. I think the several times the USFS has contacted him and he hopefully just packed it out. If you do have this brick, I will trade you for Jackson.

Comments
Comments: A perfect hike for a hot day. Early start to beat the majority of the heat. Not many on the way in, like a salmon swimming up stream on the way out. Trail is in pretty good (for Lincoln Brook) shape. Maybe if the trail maintainer did a better job it would be less muddy. Slacker. Slide is dry scree down low and when you enter the woods its a trickle but enough to keep the rocks wet (up and down it). Ran into a few familiar faces on the way down, one not happy to see me, ah ah ah. All in all a great day for the Owl, especially with the wading in the river on the way out. My 23rd Owl summit, but only 10/12 for grid - slacker!
