| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Bemis Brook Trail has a lovely sign placed by the family who maintains it in honor of a deceased loved one. Nice blazes on this trail. Good bridges on the Arethusa Trail. Many blowdowns (looks like the wind knocked many trees down) on the Arethusa-Ripley trail. Lower section from the parking lot to just beyond the trestle (Frankenstein Cliff) could use some refreshing on theirs. Thanks! |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
The trail to the falls is great, as long as your dog is good with company, because on a hot summer day company is what you'll get! well-trained dogs who listen to their people are the only ones who should be on those cliffs! |

A few skeeters |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Men's underwear, lady's shorts along Bemis, HONEST! |

Originally wanted to do a Arethusa/Ripley loop, but the day went by too quickly. Did Arethusa/Bemis a year or so ago, but not the loop in about twenty years. I think some of it has been rerouted. It seemed different. Took the Bemis Path to see the Coliseum Falls and Bemis Brook Falls, highly recommended! Even with the dry summer all falls were impressive. Enough space at the base of the falls so that the crowd could social distance Easily.
Arethsa/Ripley is the opposite of Arethsa - hardly anyone was on it. Wasn't anything like I remembered it, seemed to be in a different area. Lovely woods and a few brooks. Frankenstein Cliff Trails starts to descend. There are a few obstructed view points. Mostly evergreens here. Don't miss the spur for Falcon Cliff, nice viewpoint here, somewhat obstructed by growing trees. After returning to the main trail the woods open up (mix of hardwood/evergreens) and there are several small areas providing views. Then comes the best, a wide open ledge with tremendous views (much like Mt. Willard, except you can see the falls from here). The descent is steep in parts; when it crosses under the face of the cliffs, it is eroded and slippery in places. Reminded me of the Willey Trail a little. Path goes near trestle and then to parking lot.
