|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||North Hancock, South Hancock, NH|
||Hancock Notch Trail, Cedar Brook Trail, Hancock Loop Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Friday, July 10, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||A few spaces available this afternoon. |
||Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||A little higher than normal in summer, but rock hoppable. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Two stepovers on Hancock Notch Trail. Blowdowns recently cleared on Hancock Loop - thank you! Massive, unmitigated erosion on Hancock Loop. |
||Occasional deer fly, but otherwise minimal. |
|Lost and Found:
||Trails were wet in places this afternoon/evening prior to the tropical storm arriving. Mud bogs on the approaches and areas of running water on the pitches. The ridge itself wasn't too bad though. Massive erosion on either side of the loop makes for slow going, as rocks and trees continue to come down. Trail is in dire need of major work.|
Still a few lady slippers in bloom on the lower Hancock Loop.
Hazy, hot, humid afternoon/evening, but rain fortunately held off.
