Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The logging roads are rough, but navigable. Parts of tower rd. seemed a little eroded, just go slow and have a good vehicle. Watch for rocks/culverts. There were a couple cars at the trailhead, which is basically just the end of the road. Room for maybe a few more vehicles, but I doubt it ever gets that busy.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Coot trail: No sign at the trailhead. It's easy to find however, as it's the wide path at the trailhead. The trail was pretty much as advertised: short, but quite steep and eroded. The rocks hadn't dried out from yesterday's storms, and they were quite slippery. Would have made for a treacherous descent. The side path to the cliff view (which is a must!) is a left turn past the fire tower, going northbound. Past the main outlook there's a blowdown, and the trail seemed to become more obscure, so I turned around. Bobcat trail: One of the worst trails I've been on. I don't have many expectations for trail maintenance in a place like Pittsburg, but this was a literal blow-down alley. The worst ones had herd paths going around them (some with questionable footing), but there were some tricky navigation involved. Tons of debris in the trail as well, though that may have been due to the recent storms. Rocks and roots were wet and slippery. Note that there is also no sign for this trail at the trailhead, and it's tricky to find: it's before the end of the road, and on the right-hand side (footpath is obvious).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a very beautiful golden when returning. No reliable water on the trail so pack some for them. Don't know if the bobcat trail is suitable for them due to all the blowdowns.
Bugs
Bugs: Big ones, but no biters.

Comments
Comments: It's the longest drive for what is probably the shortest 52 WAV hike, but absolutely worth the effort. The cliff outlook alone is worth the long drive up due to the wow-factor of it and the wilderness peaks that you see. It was a great day for a North Country hike due to the heat, which was very manageable even between 10AM-12PM.

My only real gripe about the day was the Bobcat trail which, as other hikers have pointed out, needs some big time chainsaw work done. Rocks were all slippery due to the rain, but that was expected and used extra caution when descending. Would highly recommend 52 WAV peak baggers to stop putting this one off and give it a go.
