Comments
Comments: As many 4k hikers know the 'Brutus' and 'Black Pond' 'bushwhacks' are very well defined herd paths, which make for a quick route to Owl's Head. I took the 'Brutus' up and then bushwhacked along the south ridge to the 'Spire.' From the Spire, I dropped down to the south, favoring east when cliffs were present. The upper south slope is very steep. I hit Lincoln Brook Tr. close to the frequent starting point for Black Pond bushwhack and took that route back. In general, I enjoy the south ridge route over the Spire, which I have used on my last four trips to OH.
