Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All stream crossings were very manageable, perhaps a bit higher than normal due to the rain of the past few days - but very manageable (poles helped.)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Brush is encroaching on the single wide narrow footpath areas early (low) in the hike where it gets more sun (logging in the not too distant past). I wished I had pants on for the first and last mile of the out and back hike for that reason.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We didn't see any, not a lot of people either. It would have been fine for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: The bugs appeared plentiful, but deep woods OFF was enough, doused the baseball hat and that worked fine. Neither of us felt like we needed the bug jackets and never wore them.

Comments
Comments: Trail was really in quite good shape other than the areas where the ferns, and other growth is encroaching in the very early and late portions of the hike. Once you reach the cabin the remaining 0.3 or .04 along the ridge was in good shape and really a nice ridge walk to the summit. It was a very odd day weather wise, rain kept blowing in, then a spot of sun so really no views to speak of. Generally speaking this was a good hike to choose for a rainy wet day - not steep, rocks are slippery but much less treacherous than other trails because the grade is very moderated throughout the hike. Additionally you are in the trees the entire time so the additional cover was helpful.
