| Water Crossing Notes: |
All are fine. The AMC has created some stone steps on the first water crossing that will probably act more like a dam due to its tight construction. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are about six blowdowns in the col between Willey summit and the height of land before it. WRT from Field to Willey could benefit from a haircut, its getting pretty tight. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Many doggoes out |
|
| Bugs: |
The purpose of the TR was to make note of a ground hornets nest forming along the Willey Range Trail. It is about halfway from F to W. You will enter a blowdown area, which will be obvious because you are far more exposed than you have been, and then enter the woods. In short order you will enter a second area of blowdowns. There were lots of bees buzzing there. Just a heads up for those that may be allergic |

| Lost and Found: |
A vape pen was found on the true summit of Willey. |

A fine day for a WTF. Weather kept most at bay. I think Avalon gets steeper every time you do it. I opted to take the abandoned portion of the trail this time and did a little whacking up the steeper rock section where the trail bears hard right. I was only mildly lost but I made great time. Only ran into about 5 people all day, and saw no one from Field on, until just before Willard junction; were I was told I need to get 20ft off trail and wait to let them pass since I didn't have a mask on. Only got rained on the last 100 feet to the car. Perfect! 7/12 for the grid |
