| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking for Pitcher Mtn. whose firetower is a popular short hike. Also plenty of parking in downtown Washington, where we ended. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A number of small ones, all easily mamageable. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
We took the blue-blazed Alternate Trail section east of Jackson Trail, to avoid the 100-ft. section of the (white-blazed) main Trail said to be flooded 3-ft. deep by beavers. We missed the left (east) turn maybe 100 yards after its beginning, which runs south, but it was raining and otherwise we probably would not have had a problem. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
| Bugs: |
Heavy blackflies on the ridge from Pitcher to Jackson Hill. When it started to rain hard on our descent from the latter, at least that drove them away. |

| Comments: |
This was Section 4 of the MSG, in their latest Guide. From Pitcher to Jackson Hill is wonderful - rolling fields of blueberry bushes with great views. Heavy rain with some thunder and lightning impeded our enjoyment of the northern half, and we left Oak Hill for another day. |
