| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Zealand Road was barricaded at Sugarloaf 2 Campground. Parking is along one side of the road before the barricade, there are signs to indicate. There is a roadwalk on paved road from there to the Sugarloaf Trail parking, maybe 1/10 of a mile. Then a 1.5 mile dirt/gravel roadwalk to the Hale Brook Trail parking/trailhead. |

Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Hale Brook is low enough to hop rocks without getting wet. Lend-a-Hand bog bridges were fine, one of them needs a little repair. Bridges along Zealand Falls trail are in great shape. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Hale Brook trail seemed great. One step-over blowdown on Lend-a-hand, very manageable. Good signage and blazing throughout. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I encountered a few, they were all well under control. |
|
| Bugs: |
A mosquito or two, and the roadwalk back to the car featured annoying, non-biting blackflies. |

| Comments: |
A very quick, non-threatening encounter with a bear on the Zealand Falls trail, soon after passing the Ethan Pond Trail. The bear was clambering out of a pond, and made a quick departure from my location. I guess it didn't like my singing. |
