| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked on the Kanc (one of a few spots by the bridge) just because I find it easier to manage than the scene at Lincoln Brook. Easy walk in - arrived at 7:30. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All water crossings easily hopable. Water low. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No serious blow downs. Both bushwhacks in good shape (for a bushwhack) |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I brought my 1 year old lab and she had a great day. I intentionally did the brutus bushwhack just so I would not have to deal with her on the slide. Only pain was departing on Lincoln woods because it is a highway of casual walkers in the afternoon. That said my dog was off leash and 95% of the people were happy to see her. |
| Bugs: |
Mosquitos noticeable on Lincoln Woods trail. |
| Lost and Found: |
Found 2 pairs of sunglasses and put them in obvious spots for hikers returns. |

| Comments: |
Well, its done. Owls head is actually a pleasant enough walk - the worst part frankly is the climb itself which culminates in....nothing. I mixed it up by doing the black pond bushwhack on the way out and Lincoln woods on the way back. I found the brutus bushwhack to be a nice easy way up and down and easy to follow. 18.1 miles 6:15 minutes. Had lunch on Lincoln brook as there are many nice spots after the black pond bushwhack enters. Saw probably 10 hikers on the trail itself and at least 50 on lincoln wooods. Due to the number of people, the later area is not for me but understand it was a necessary evil today. |
