| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Good sized parking area with overflow allowed on one side of Haystack Road. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Used the bypass path for the first two crossings. Water levels were high enough for me to think twice about crossing. My first time using the bypass trail. Easy to follow. I wonder why the trail builders didn't just put the trail on this track and eliminate the first two crossings. The third crossing, the supposedly easiest, was rock hopped with a few literal "leaps of faith". |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is mud in spots, but nothing too severe. Worst place was between the two peaks. The trail markings at the river crossings are pretty good and easy to follow. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Not sure how a dog would handle the water crossings. |
| Bugs: |
There wasn't much wind, so black flies were a nuisance on both peaks, worse on South Twin. |

| Comments: |
The bathrooms at the USFS picnic area on RT 3 between Gale River Loop Road and Haystack are barricaded. The sign says "closed for winter"! |
