 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking. Lots of out of state cars, you may want to avoid the shelter for social distancing. |

Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The stream crossing on Flat Mountain Pond Trail at the wilderness boundary is low and rock-hoppable. Also easy to ford in bare feet if you aren't confident on the rocks. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
McCrillis: All blowdowns that are not easy step-overs or duck-unders have now been removed except for one, at about 0.1 miles into the McCrillis trail from the wilderness boundary. Please crawl under this one if you can! Some small muddy sections are still a work in progress and the yearly brushing has yet to be finished but the trail is easy to follow and no longer an obstacle course.
Flat Mountain Pond: Just past the junction with McCrillis (upriver) there is a blowdown that is perfect for axework (~1' in diameter). Everything else on Flat Mountain Pond Trail looks great. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Perfect hike for dogs. |
 | Bugs: |
Tons of mosquitos at low elevations, especially the parking lot. Tons of black flies at higher elevations. |
