While an easy hike overall, there are numerous private and public trails, named and unnamed, mapped and unmapped... so it's worth doing a small bit of due diligence map-wise before you go.
From the parking area, proceed north on a woods road past a gate. The path you want goes northerly, taking you along the east side of Rowells Brook. While the trails are not signed, the SPNHF Kaufman Forest map called the trail you want the "Lamphere Trail." This trail intersects with the Cohos Trail; turn right onto the Bald Mtn. Notch Trail segment. In about a tenth mile from here (NW of the peak), take an unmarked/unnamed, but obvious herd path/trail to the summit. It climbs steeply, but it is easy to follow. The jar is a few yards into the woods from the view ledges. |
