Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot at the end of Willard Pond Road, room for almost 20 cars. Around 12 cars at arrival around 9:30, lot almost full when leaving at 12:30.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Tudor Trail is the driest I've ever seen it. It is usually somewhat wet and muddy being along the pond edge. The only main crossing is the brook on Tamposi Trail, shortly after leaving the parking lot...easy rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are in good shape overall but there are a good amount of blowdowns throughout, mostly older ones. However, the section of Tamposi Trail as you get closer to the summit had a section of significant damage, mostly of spruce trees, looks to be from a wind storm. Even continuing down there were more here and there...some evidence of recent trail work for a few of the blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure, a few happy dogs along the way, signs that say they should be leashed.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes were getting bothersome towards the end.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Random winter hat on branch on Tamposi Trail.

Comments
Comments: Great hike today with my dad. The parking lot was pretty full/busy, but it seemed that most people were out on Willard Pond. I took my dad on a loop that went along Tudor, Bald Mountain, and then Tamposi. I've always loop hiked the other way, but I thought maybe this way would make the ascent up the steeper part. This is easier for him, getting back into hiking after having both knees replaced. We briefly heard the loons today from the pond and I heard them last fall, so they seem to have established a nesting area on Willard. When we saw the pond from the viewpoint, we noticed there is actually a roped off area of the pond which makes me think it's for the loons. Great weather for a hike to one of my favorite places.
