Comments
Comments: What an awesome day! We wanted something different so we went up Whaleback and then over to Whaleback South Peak. Initially I followed the col and then whacked in a south westerly direction to the westerly height of land. Very scrappy dense woods, slow going here. Once to the westerly height of land I was able to quickly find a game trail and made great progress. More or less good wood to the true, marked, summit of Whaleback, South. On the way out I tried a different line trying to ride the 3k contour, same scrappy woods from western height of land to the col junction of Whaleback. Osseo was in great shape and snow free, and tons of melting has happened over the last week. Bits and pieces of monorail remain but no need for spikes anymore. We missed round one of downpours to our north and round two to our south, but round three soaked us. Minimal views today but its not about that. Happy to only have 11 left for seasonal grid - and get a NH500 in the process. Tons of trout lillies, lady slippers and trilliums today!
