Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Some nice bridges and a plank helped crossing some streams, everything else easily rock hop-able. The small seasonal streams are not running. The stream near Fox Brook Campsite was flowing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: We met the Trail Maintainers today staging at the Pitcher Mt. parking lot and then again at the Fox Brook Campsite. They installed a new privy today! Trail clear all the way, thank you.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: sure why not
Bugs
Bugs: Oh yes but luckily we moved right along and there was often a nice breeze to help keep them at bay

Comments: Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, Section 4, Pitcher Mountain to Route 31 Washington

Fun to meet all the trail maintainers today, thank you for your work. The guide calls this the most interesting section of trail and I agree. Pretty forest, open summits and the Barney Brook area all worth visiting. We started the morning with low clouds and haze but by the time we reached Jackson Hill things were clearer and we had a fair view of Monadnock. We did Pitcher Mt. last outing so we just headed up the Hubbard Hill Road and picked up the Greenway where we left off. Lots of blueberry blossoms, hopefully lots of berries come July. Jackson Hill and Oak Hill are nice peaks and well worth a day hike. King Street is a long downhill but a pleasant gravel road so it went by quickly. Coming off of Oak Hill we got an eye filler of Lovewell Mountain! Becca and I are enjoying the Greenway very much. Today we met a mother-daughter duo and later three young men backpacking Sobo. We realized (except Monadnock and on Pitcher) everyone one we have met on the trail has been a backpacker--we haven't met any other section hikers.
