Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Too easy to deserve mention.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Anything I write here will be nitpicking, especially since the trails are in a wilderness area. Davis path could use some light brushing between the Crawford Spur and the junction with Mount Parker trail. The Stairs spur needs brushing. Davis Path is narrowed by a recent blowdown parallel to the trail near the Stairs col trail. You can squeeze by due to the branches on one side already being snapped or bent back.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Would be easy for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies only took 2-3 minutes to greet me on the summit of Stairs and on the open ledges of Resolution. However, they beat a hasty retreat. (Permethrin is a beautiful thing.) A couple of hikers I saw said Crawford was buggy too. It's the season.

Comments
Comments: A nice day in the WMNF.

Saw people four times for a total of five individuals between 302 and Crawford Spur. Nobody seen elsewhere.

DP was largely dry with a few damp spots up to Crawford Spur. Between Crawford Spur and Mt. Parker trail DP was off and on muddy with some shallow standing water. Most rocks on the scrambly section of DP going towards Stairs were wet. Mt. Parker trail had some humid spots, but was dryer than nearby locations on Davis path.

The two best places to filter water directly on trail would have been 3.2 miles from 302 on Davis Path (0.5 miles West of Mt. Parker trail) and on Mt. Parker trail between DP and Resolution's summit. The latter is where the AMC map's contour lines indicate a drainage, but there's no marking for a stream. I reckon both water sources dry up by late Summer, but the Mt. Parker trail one is more reliable.

No snow on trail. A few patches of snow seen through the trees off DP near Stairs.
