| Water Crossing Notes: |
Crossing of Downes Brook on Mt. Potash Trail was not rock hoppable as expected so prepare to get wet. Went straight through in trail runners on submerged rocks. Knee deep at times with the occasional swift current. Not too bad. Crossing of the Swift River on way to Church Pond was much easier and very pleasant-knee deep and running swiftly but not too swiftly:) |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Mt. Potash Trail in great shape. There is a huge, scary widowmaker that will someday land straight down the trail at ~1770'. Church Pond had numerous small blowdowns easy to stepover in the bog bridge section. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Great dog trails. Mine had a blast. Met a group of three other dogs having fun near Potash summit |
|
| Bugs: |
Was glad to have my bug net on-black flies swarming on Potash and a few skeeters |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Some savage piece of human waste lost a large stool right behind the Potash/hedgehog/Downes Trail Kiosk. With all the surrounding, thick woods, they decided to drop their pants and sh*t right beside the kiosk a foot from the parking lot. At least there wasn't any toilet paper to be seen, which raises other questions. How do such people exist in this world? |

Potash views are top notch-great hike. I had no expectations for Church Pond, and was blown away at how spectacular it is. What a great hike on a hot day. Got to cross the Swift River and a tributary and then swim in the pond at the end of a 1-mile flat hike. best views are from 20' out in the water!!! |
