Solid hike. Clocked it at 5.4 miles with 2320' of vertical gained. This trail starts as an up-and-down on an old woods road that gains maybe 400'before the bridge is reached over dry brook. About a quarter mile after that it takes a sharp turn to the left or west and begins the climb to the summit. It's a mix of loose rock, dry dirt, and slabs. Excellent footing. Unbelievable 360 degree summit with great views. The trail is well marked. During the descent I counted around 30 yellow blazes painted on the slabby rocks. The only real issue with this trail is that there are two steep pitches at around 2200' where there is a risk of rock fall. |
