Comments
Comments: Up the Ammounousoc was slightly sketchy at times, but overall it was fine with spikes. Do not take the Ammonousoc Ravine Trail down unless you are very comfortable with winter conditions. It was a luge track at times. There were people going up without spikes and they did okay, but the pair I saw going down without them seemed miserable. Most people at the summit were discussing how terrible it would be going down the Ammo; my partner and I advised as many people as possible to take the Jewell Trail. One pair did not heed that advice and instead decided to walk down the Cog tracks to avoid going down the Ammounosoc Trail (???!!). So, that's how intimidating it was.

Warnings aside: this was a beautiful day + hike. I'd never been to Washington without the crowds, and it was wonderful. The Jewell trail down was a dream once you get past some slush after the boulder field and the Ammonousoc Ravine Trail provided lovely views.
