Decided to go from Broomstick Hill as no issues with parking. Farr Hill is a snowmobile trail so this time of year it's grassy and pretty muddy in spots. We followed it to the height of land where we saw an opening in the woods so started here to look for the woods road. The overgrowth cleared out pretty quickly as we followed;owed what appeared to be a herd path. On the way up, I turned towards the summit a little earlier than Italian so ended up following herd paths through open woods and a clear cut. He managed to turn into the woods a little later and soon found the old woods road. Either route, we both ended up on the woods road at some point and followed it all the way to just below the summit where it turns sharp right and steeply uphill. Once on the height of land, we headed to our right and soon found the jar, tucking into a spruce tree. A little further on was a ledgy area, views through the trees and a demolished cairn which we re-erected. Signed in and followed the woods road pretty much all the way back to the snowmobile trail. There are a few huge blowdowns easily gotten around and the road becomes less visible near the bottom but it works. |
