Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One minor and narrow crossing at about 2,900' elevation was still frozen over and could be a bit tricky - just use caution. No traction necessary.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail is in great condition. Well-marked with yellow blazes from trailhead to summit.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few well-behaved dogs on the trail. Nice trail for most dogs - nothing too steep or technical.
Bugs
Bugs: It's that time of year - 'squitos were aggressive and pretty relentless as breezes were minimal down low. Slight winds at summit helped push them away. Bug spray (per usual) didn't do too much.
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: Beautiful bluebird day today. Many hikers out and about today enjoying the holiday weekend. This mountain is a hidden gem as it offers terrific 360 views from the observation tower on the summit. While low in elevation, gives a bigger mountain feel in both views and elevation climb (2,600') with low starting point at the trailhead (680'). Trail was in great condition and had some avoidable short sections of icy monorail remaining below the summit starting around 2,800 feet or so. No traction necessary. One iced over crossing required a little extra caution. Snow / ice will likely be gone by end of this upcoming week. Summit area is large with plenty of elbow room for many hikers.
