Black flies, but wind helped a bit. They were awful when the wind died down though. Also, mosquitoes. |

Day two along Lyndeborough Ridge. This was originally a return visit to The Pinnacle and beyond to the base of Rose, but turned into a complete loop over the ridge using a newly-cut trail, a snowmobile trail, and the Class VI French Rd. for the return trip. The snowmobile trail was pretty lousy, being very eroded and wet. The new hiking trail down from the summit of Rose ... I don't understand. It descends 0.25 mi. to the snowmobile trail and then stops. French Rd. was fine, although torn up in places from Jeep traffic. A short walk along Mountain Rd. closed the loop.
Several people out today, but far from crowded. Temps were 15 degrees cooler than yesterday, which was a welcome change. |
