| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We drove 1.4 miles up Millsfield Pond Road, and parked at the intersection of the Deer Mtn. ATV Road. We could have easily driven our Subaru cars another 0.8 mile up the road... but such is hind sight :-) |

Despite the black flies, we tried to grab some northern peaks before the logging regrowth leafs out.
Walked 1.4 mile up the Deer Mountain ATV road to its end, at a large beautiful opening with a panoramic view and picnic tables. From here we bushwhacked 0.4 mile up the SE ridge. Woods were super easy. The top contour was flat, and we visited all bumps. The one we felt was the highest had no jar, but the rocky knob had a pine tree with cut branches.
There was pink flagging here and there in the woods, and it looks like someone tried to make a path from the ATV picnic spot to the summit.. but there was no footbed and no obvious trail.
While it would have been a touch shorter distance-wise to drop east off the summit to the road, the woods were so easy coming off the SE ridge that took the same route.
Fun three days (and 12 peaks) up in Errol with JEM3. |
