Nice day for some redlining. Everything in and around Black Cap and Cranmore are in great shape; wide trails with shallow grades thanks to use as mountain bike trails. Saw a dozen or so mountain bikers buzzing about overall, one hiker past Black Cap, and what I can only assume was a dozen or so families on black cap (we must have missed them when we came back and skipped Black Cap). Black Cap Connector has one section where the trail clearly splits in two with no guidance on which way to go; it doesn't matter they meet back up a tenth or two later. There's a slight but steady descent down towards Peaked Mountain of about 800 feet, but other than that the elevation on most of these trails is barely peceptible. Not much in the way of views except on top of Peaked and especially Black Cap. The Connector has a lot of mud in the first section thanks to mountain bikes doing their thing, but it becomes much drier after a mile or so. Pleasant trail, and lightly used, good for trail running practice. |
