Comments
Comments: Started up the Three Ponds trail to the Mount Kineo trail which we followed to a height of land at about .5 miles. Started our bushwhack here heading to the lesser bump of Black Hill. We came to a jar which said it was the Black Hill jar, 2135', etc. After signing in, I checked gaia to figure our route back and noticed it had stopped recording, or so I thought. Looked like we were on the lesser bump. When I checked the elevation, I discovered we were at about 1830'! The Gaia was still tracking us; we just weren't at the summit! Onward! Took a heading towards the actual summit and headed down into a col with an obvious steep climb up. We noticed a more gradual route following a stream bed up to a higher notch so went that way. Once at the top, we had a short trip up a steep section then onto some ledges and the flatter summit. Found the jar on a high bump with room for one person to stand next to it! Signed in and made our way back towards the notch, managing to hit it even higher up so no steep ledges. Followed the streamed all the way back down to the Mount Kineo trail. This would be a nice moderate route up if you're interested; it's a little less than a mile in where the trail crosses the stream. Took the trail back to our car.
