From our parking location we crossed the gated woods road and followed it at moderate grade. This road runs up to a col between Lampier Mountain East peak and a bump to it’s east. At the col we started bushwhacking west in open wood at steep grade the things leveled off. We found a moose bone and we soon hit the recognized high point.
After signing in we set off and soon found a dozen or so more moose bones. Rather than heading straight for Lampier Mountain we headed toward Rocky Pond. We dropped down in open woods, crossed an old woods road, skirted the pond and started climbing southwest at moderate grade. Once the climb stopped, Lampier Mountain summit has lots of bumps to check for the summit jar.
After signing in we dropped southeast to the drainage / col between the two mountains, found a place to cross, still bushwhacking and at roughly 1800 feet of elevation we picked up a woods road that brought us down towards another wood’s road. We went north (south would bring you to Line Pond) then picked up a mountain bike trail that brought us back to original woods road we started on within a half mile of our car.
Nice hike clocking in 7.5 miles & 1900 feet of elevation gain +/-
