Osseo was dry until the sharp right turn at I think 2000’. Snowy from then on. Solid monorail j til the treacherous snow laden wooden stairs. I saw just a small patch of wood at one point. We go to the “downlook†sign and looked up at the final push and thought microspikes wouldn’t cut it. Or at least wouldn’t be a smart move. Time for me to invest in trail crampons. Hank Williams would have been fine. He’s like a little mountain goat. 4 boys with no traction at all also turned back at this point. I thought poles were also supremely useful. I heard one prepared hiker did just fine.
Nice to chat with Priscilla and Chris in the parking lot. |
