Headed down Dorchester Road to the entrance for the skyway. Crossed the stream using the bridge then headed up the ski trail furthest to the left. Soon after starting up, a bear cub ran onto the ski trail, looked at us and ran back into the woods! Stayed to the left all the way to the top of the chairlift. Pretty relentless slog which steepened the further up we went until it curved to the right at which point it pretty much flattened out all the way to the top of the lift. We took a heading and followed a path towards the summit. Came to a fork where the path went right but a woods road straight was the better choice. The woods road disappeared after awhile so we bushwhacked the rest of the way to the highpoint over flat to moderate grade and 2-3" of snow! Came to a clearing but no jar. Saw another clearing a little higher. Managed to spot the jar although it was covered with snow so the orange tape wasn't visible! Signed in and headed back the way we came. Took an old woods road most of the way down until it became too muddy and we were close enough to the ski trails to head down the rest of the way using them. |
