 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked on Lime Kiln Road and we were the only two cars at 9 AM. One more car parked along the road when we returned around 1. Some of our party took the easier way down via the Black Mountain Trail and reported no cars at either the winter or summer trailheads. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
One stream crossing low down on Chippewa Trail was challenging for the short-legged member of our party. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
High up on Chippewa there is a log bridge that needs some attention sooner or later - one log is broken but it's still usable. |

Nice hike, and the trails are in very good shape. A couple of wet spots on Chippewa going up, and Black Mountain Trail was pretty mucky for 1/2 mile down from the summit. Going up Chippewa, we enjoyed the red pine woods and the many view outlooks. When you pop out onto the false summit on Chippewa Trail, there is a great view if you wander down the rocks to your right. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the natural benches at the summit. |
