This is actually a composite of 2 out-and-backs to Black Cap May 6 and May 8. The first via a ski slope ,Cranmore trail, and Black Cap trail. The other by walking Hurricane Mountain road to Black Cap trail. Only saw one trail-runner the first time and two mountain-bikers the second. (Late afternoon starts.)
On the Hurricane mountain gate TNC has put a sign asking visitors to not touch their kiosk and not retrieve the trash of others due to Covid 19. Hurricane mountain road was clear of snow, ice, and debris larger than twigs. Only one small frost heave on the portion between the gate and the Black cap trailhead.
The trails were mostly dry. There were some minute patches of snow that were easy to step around and some larger, but still avoidable muddy areas.
It was important to maintain social distancing with the porcupine waddling on trail. |
