Comments
Comments: We parked at the pull-off of the FSR 511. We walked around the gate and hiked to the junction with the Potash Mountain Trail. We hiked to the summit of Potash and then found a reasonable descent off the summit, making our way in a southwesterly direction to the col and ridge leading to the South Peak. The col was open woods and a pleasant walk, until we began our ascent. Woods began to become increasingly thick with substantial snow levels at 2-3 feet. Post holed for most of the way to the summit where we signed in and then began our descent, bushwhacking in a northeasterly direction to avoid going back over Potash.2-3 feet of snow in places made the going tough. Bad decision. Should have gone back over Potash. Whacked around Potash picking up an occasional skidder path, returning to FR 511 and an easy walk back to the gate and the Kanc.
