Comments
Comments: After cycling the Tunnel Brook Forest Roads & FR 171 we decided we had plenty of time for a hike and Cobble Hill Trail was nearby. Looks like plenty of ATVs/dirt bike go around the gate and go through to Landaff. Our hike up the road was fine, liked the stonewalls and the old cellar hole. We entered the woods and aimed for the north end of the hill's ridge to avoid the steep wall. Nearing the summit we hit a old logging road/snomobile trial that petered out near the top of the ridge. As we walked near the summit bumps on the south end, I recalled how Bryan and I went back and forth to the pill bottle and the more south bump. Both registers are still there but the pill bottle doesn't see many signatures. We enjoyed fabulous views of northern Presies, Franconia Ridge and Moosilauke due to the trees not having leaves yet. We descended by heading south on the ridge through very fine open hardwoods forest. This would be the way to hit this peak. We went south far enough to before turning hard right (west) to hit the Cobble Hill Trail just above the start of the drainage. Open woods, no cliffs and dry feet all the way. Good day to be out. We didn't see any other people, we missed them during our whack-loop. Good day to be out.
