 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
At the top of Morgan Hill Rd. in New London. Due to others taking up more than their own spaces in the small lot, I parked roadside across from the trailhead, far enough out of the way as to not block access to the private residence at the end of the road. |

This was a fantastic loop on some of the NLCC trails I hadn't been on yet. Dura Crockett and Great Brook Trails run along beautiful cascades for a large portion. Starting out I did the short trip over Morgan Hill, the New London highpoint. These trails were mainly dry, but still lots of mud and water in places. Morgan Pond Rd. is kinda no-hum but it gets you places and the walking is easy.
It was fairly quiet out here today, with only about 10 people sighted. Past Devil's Half Acre Pond -- a really great remote location -- Great Brook Trail, which follows a section of the SRKG, is lightly-traveled, but I did see two people on that stretch.
A gorgeous day on lovely trails in this backcountry area of New London and Springfield. |
