I parked back here just to get off the highway. Followed the paths directly behind the parking area, turn right at the fork and you'll soon be walking an old woods road that goes around the lower third of the hill. Could go up anywhere along that wood's road. Woods are open, steep in places but easy to find gradual angles. Short bushwhack, fifteen-twenty minutes. Right now it's still easy to see where you're going, can easily be done by eye.
Trees shroud the views, yet if you prowl around a bit, you get some cool perspectives of the local 4000 footer stars. And then I think it's Cleveland on the other side. Don't prowl around too much, the ticks are hungry up there. I think they're in the thicker leaves, its when you flip the leaves up, they hop on.
Summit is huge boulder, and 1/2 sign on a tree remains. Very easy to find.
Followed some red flagging down from the summit, back down the other side of the hill, connects to woods road and then path back to parking area.
Make sure you do your tick checks, they are mean looking this year. |
