Since the gate was open, we drove up the logging road to the left turn mentioned in Jack from Littleton's write-up. Unfortunately, the road had some pretty deep furrows from a previous driver so we turned around and parked in the pullout just below this turn. We walked up the road, took the left and continued about 1 mile to the height of land. Road was pretty clear, only one patch of snow in a col that was easily crossed. Just past the height of land, we entered a fairly clean skidder road heading towards our goal. Iyt stayed pretty clean, although a bit muddy in places and led us to another highpoint which dropped a little steeply not a col. We headed down, crossing a wet area and started to climb. We could see the power lines above us that Jack had mentioned as leading right to the summit. We continued onto another skidder road passing under the lines and continuing up the slope. Soon we came to some pink tags and what looked like a trail so followed this up the hill. Soon we were in snow, ranging from an inch to 3". The trail came back to the power lines and continued underneath it to where we could see the beacon above. We climbed up the last steep rise to the beacon and followed a faint road, very soon seeing a high point to our right where we eventually spotted the jar. We signed in and headed back to the beacon and the trail we had followed up the peak. In a slight col, we came upon multiple pink tags that appeared to be leading towards the road. They soon disappeared as the logging/skid road became very apparent. We continued down, taking a left turn at a fork, and continuing on the skidder road all the way back to the improved logging road. We came out almost right between where we had initially entered and Jack's power lines. The skidder road starts above a large logged area: you can't miss it! Just climb over the piled logs along the shoulder. Once we were back on the road, it was a nice cruise back to the car. |
