| Comments: |
Snowshoes for the entire hike, except to cross the road. A lot of new snow at elevation from earlier this week, maybe 8-10" plus some higher drifts. There is still easily 4-5' plus of snow at the summits.
Did the loop clockwise. Looked like maybe a couple of people may have made it to North Hancock yesterday, neither with snowshoes; thus, there is no good track. Only one person had done the traverse over to South Hancock yesterday, without snowshoes, which must have been absolutely exhausting.
I suspect conditions will change dramatically throughout today and later this week.
The path between North and South meanders a bit, getting off the trail in a couple of spots. If you don't have snowshoes you will absolutely posthole. |
