Comments
Comments: Barebooted the road and first couple miles until the snow line at about 2,500 ft. Most in my party switched to microspikes at this point, but you can get away without then until the junction with the ridge trail. There is a thin monorail that is very stable, but even small missteps will result in postholing with soft and melting snow. Garfield Trail ascends very moderately, but the steep section to the summit on Garfield Ridge will require some traction, especially descending. Gorgeous day to be out on Garfield. Stunning views into the Pemi and beyond.
