| Comments: |
The signs at the trailhead, as well as the AMC and WODC maps all say the McGrillis Trail junction is 1.7 miles up the Flat Mountain Trail, but you reach it after about 15 minutes, so there's something amiss there. At about 2300', there's a transition form all hardwoods (beech and maple) to softwoods. The trail is dry until this transition, but as soon as you're into the evergreens there's ice and stable monorail. |
