Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: When we arrived at 7:30, there was no one at the turnout on Binney Rd, just where the dirt road becomes completely unmaintained. Took my Jeep Wrangler up the unmaintained Rd. which was very washed out, rocky and wet. Would not due this with other than a 4WD with lots of clearance. No one at the upper parking area. When we returned at 11:00, we were still the only car in the upper parking area with 3 or 4 cars in hotel lower area.

Comments
Comments: Started out with a wild ride up Binney Pond Rd. Which was very washed out. Luckily, the Wrangler was able to climb it in 4WD. Saw two deer getting out of the car. The trail as very well maintained as were the wooden bridges around the pond's edge. Lot's of evidence of recent beaver activity and two pairs of Canada geese were making their noise out on the pond. The climb to Pratt Mtn summit was short, but steep with pretty vistas from the overlook of Watatic Mtn and Mt. Watchusset ski area. It was clear enough to make out the Boston skyline, some 50 miles distant. Just beyond the summit, there were views to the west of Mt. Monadnock and in the distance you could see Mt. Snow and Stratton ski areas, almost 60 miles away. Decided not to head to Stony Top and headed back instead. Nice morning.

Passed 4 or 5 small groups of hikers and two trail runners. Everyone was very conscientious about maintaining social distancing and most also wore masks.
