Typical spring conditions.....only tiny patches of ice that can be skirted, or managed w/light traction. The first couple of miles are basically bare ground.
Had anticipated snow, and had fun breaking trail from about 1/2 way up to the ridge, and over to S Kinsman. Ridge trail was unbroken. Someone had barebooted maybe the day before but had turned around when the snow got deeper.
Ditto Namaste's remarks (from Moosilauke's trek of 4/23) about drifting/depths of powder.
