We took the wide trail up toward the peak. Even three years later the black crosses as reported in Bryan's post can still be seen on the trail. We followed his directions and at the second junction we should have turned left (away from the peak) instead of following a lesser used road. About .1 mile up this lesser used road we took a bearing and headed for the peak, coming back to the trail just a little north of the summit. The HOL is marked with a small cairn but after much searching we didn't find a jar so I hung a new one and began a new register. The high point is off the trail at a fantastic view point east. Returning we followed the trail north to another view area from which Mt Washington could be seen. Continuing on this trail with blue blazes brought us back to the junction where we went right instead of continuing on the trail. Apparently this is a well used trail that runs along the entire Moose Mountain Ridge originating behind a house on Route 4 in Enfield. |
