| Comments: |
decided on out and back from Gale River Road. Barebooted to just below the steeps on GaleRiver Trail. Water crossings were okay with some scouting and wet boots. Used spikes to the Garfield Ridge Trail then snowshoes to the hut. solid mono rail in most places in morning...softer on descent.
Frost trail was solid.
Twinway to South Twin had some bare rock and rotting monorail but decent footing in snowshoes or spikes. More solid monorail over to North Twin.
On descent trail softer and more chewed up..snowshoes or spikes worked fine.. Deepest rail was in the North Twin col..maybe 5 feet or so....saw my first bear of the year coming through the Notch and we were greeted with many wildflowers down low today including Trout Lily and loads of Trillium
Great day out with Bryan, Sarah, and Hannah.. |
