Comments
Comments: Aside from that patch of snow, the road walk was snow and ice free. Same deal for the first tenth of a mile or two of the West Ridge Trail, after which there were spotty small patches of snow and ice mixed in with dry ground, wet ground, and mud. Past the South Ridge Trail junction, the 50/50 mix of bare ground and snow/ice patches continued for another couple tenths of a mile, after which the footbed was mostly snow and ice. Put on my spikes at that point. Little to no snow or ice above the trees, both on the West Ridge and Clark trails. South Ridge Trail was a 50/50 mix of bare ground/ledge and ice/spring snow, at least to Rimrock. The Skyland Trail had almost full, continuous snow and ice coverage from Rimrock back to West Ridge, with some sections of ice being glacier-like.

Cardigan was bustling today, but everyone was good about keeping their distance from one another. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said about bringing traction. Most people I saw didn't have any sort of traction, and I saw several groups who were clearly struggling on some of the more icy spots.
